Clinical milk fever and subclinical hypocalcaemia are essentially the same - both are low available calcium levels in the blood, only the severity differs. However, the subclinical hypocalcaemia is far more costly than clinical milk fever because it affects a much higher percentage of animals, and goes largely unnoticed.
