Abstract

The slow pace with which the South African dairy industry adapts to international conditions continues to disappoint. While international producer prices have increased significantly during the latter half of 2013, South African prices hardly showed any movement. Although the growth in dollar prices of dairy products has stabilised recently, the weakening rand more than compensates for this stagnation.
