Dairy processors are increasingly starting to test milk for mycotoxins, specifically aflatoxin. This testing stems from concerns of potentially high mycotoxin content in feeds produced during certain growing seasons. Southern Africa is currently experiencing arguably some of the highest levels of mycotoxins in feedstuffs, specifically maize and maize silage, in years. The following points may be helpful in better understanding this situation.
