In a country where we deal with a large lower class and a rapidly growing middle class, the juice industry cannot afford to ignore the lower income consumer segment. Although it is often difficult to distinguish the needs of these consumers, they form a big part of the South African buying force. The truth is that suppliers, in their quest to be more innovative, often tend to focus on the needs of higher income consumers.
