Abstract

Food labelling in South Africa is about to become stricter and more informative, and will cover genetically modified food (GMOs) and all foods with allergens. Once the Consumer Protection Bill is implemented, the labelling of the genetically modified contents of food will become mandatory and producers, importers, distributors and retailers will be held liable for any damage these products may cause.
