Abstract

An important part of informed product decision-making relates to the role of food labels to ensure consumer protection. Food labels can provide consumers with useful information that can help them avoid the potential hazards associated with consumption (e.g. food-borne illness, allergic reactions). Relevant aspects of labelling include indications off reshness (e.g. product expiry date), handling and storage instructions, as well as allergy warnings.
