Abstract

There is a growing momentum from policymakers to green the country's approach to agriculture in a way that generates new skills for farmers and ensures food security and poverty alleviation. Conservation South Africa (CSA), a locally registered NGO, is now working with government and a broad spectrum of partners in the private sector to transform the production of red meat and the market for it. It also hopes to raise policy support for red meat - one of Africa's oldest agricultural commodities.
