Abstract

South African red meat has the potential to be very competitive and lucrative in the international market, but producers haven't been able to tap into premium overseas markets so far. With new markets beckoning, the time is ripe to ready the industry for a boom in exports. To make the most of this opportunity, however, a comprehensive national export strategy for beef and mutton is needed.
