Abstract

The wool fibre is a resounding example of a product that has, over many centuries, stood the test of time. The history of wool tells us that humans were weaving with wool in Babylon (which incidentally, means "land of wool") in 4 000 BC. The Bible refers to sheep at least 179 times and it is known that shepherding was the first career organised into structures. Wool was, and is still, a symbol of quality and status - worn by royalty throughout the ages.
