Abstract

In Algiers on 18th June 2000, Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Seyoum Mesfin, and his Eritrean counterpart, Haile Woldetensae, signed a peace agreement that ended a two-year war over the disputed demarcation of their common border. Both sides lost tens of thousands of soldiers, more than a million civilians were dis-placed and thousands were forced to seek refuge across the Sudanese border.
