Abstract

Efforts to facilitate lasting peace in the border dispute between Ethiopia and Eritrea is bearing fruit, as all reports indicate considerable improvement in the relations between the two countries. During the first two months of this year, the two countries reportedly intensified their cooperation with regard to observing the peace agreement. The fact that both parties are willing to negotiate with the United Nations (UN), and the fact that they perceive the UN as a legitimate facilitator, indicate their willingness to cooperate in order to end the conflict.
