Abstract

How we define and understand the notion of civil society - as well as its proposed functions - has been the subject of many academic debates. Attempts have been made to delineate the state and political parties from the economy and general population. In this regard, the first has been governed by the logic of domination, the second by the logic of profit or rentability, and the third by the logic of participation. Civil society, it has been argued, falls into the final category.
