Abstract

The United Nations (UN) is transforming itself in order to play a more coordinated role in peacebuilding activities in post-conflict societies. In December 2005, the organisation established the Peace-Building Commission (PBC) as an inter-governmental body, which will convene representatives of the UN's major organs, financing institutions, troop contributors, the governments in question and other relevant stakeholders in order to better coordinate activities and marshal resources for post-conflict peacebuilding activities in the world.
