The key to the successful prosecution of Peace Support Operations (PSO) is the credibility of the intervention force. Credibility encompasses much more than the simple military over-matching of the indigenous combatants, and must certainly not degenerate to an unacceptable use of violence. It must be demonstrated and, more importantly, perceived at the tactical, operational and strategic levels, both internationally and in the theatre of operations.
