"Forensic accounting is part of the much broader offering of forensic advisory services," explains PricewaterhouseCoopers forensic advisory partner and ex-law enforcement officer, Peter Goss. "In South Africa, the bulk of a forensic accounting assignment would generally relate to investigating complex financial crimes involving corruption and fraud - but can also focus on dispute analysis and litigation support in civil litigation matters such as breach of contract, insurance claims, loss of profits quantification, in disciplinary hearings, criminal cases and regulatory enquiries. We now have multi-disciplinary forensic teams offering holistic services to clients, with forensic accounting being but one of the many specialisations."
