The Professional Accountant looks at its role in accounting today. The word "mentor" originates from Greek mythology, Mentor being the son of Alcumus and later a friend of Odysseus - the first recorded modern usage of the term is traced to a book entitled "Les Adventures de Telemaque", published in 1699, where the lead character is that of Mentor, meaning a more experienced and trusted friend, counselor or teacher.
