Abstract

The African Commission on Human and People's Rights (ACHPR) adopted a model law on access to information in April 2013 that it hopes African countries will emulate. It has been designed to encourage both the adoption and implementation of access to information laws in African countries, in a bid to promote good governance across the continent, improve socio-economic rights and eradicate under-development. Rwanda became the 11th African nation to adopt an access to information law in March 2013.
