Abstract

Fighting formally broke out in late August 2013 between the March 23 (M23) Movement, the DRC's Army (FARDC), and the Force Intervention Brigade (FIB) of the United Nations (UN) Organisation Stabilisation Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), (MONUSCO). Amidst these acronyms should be included the Tanzanian Battalion (TANZBATT) and their participation in this fighting, the results of which have been a resounding victory thus far for UN forces and a restoration of faith by Goma's inhabitants in their peacekeepers and local army.
