Abstract

If any nation's ruling party (in Egypt's case, the military which has controlled the country since the generals ousted the government of former president, Mohamed Morsi, in July 213) wishes its hold on power to be legitimised via a national election, it is not wise to undermine any credibility such an election would bestow by pronouncing death sentences on hundreds of political opposition members.
