Abstract

The inauguration of a new Nigerian president following an historic election for the country signals a turning point in West Africa's counter-insurgency efforts against the Boko Haram terror group and is one of the significant developments of the period under review in the May edition of . Violence unexpectedly spread through urban South Africa as foreign workers were attacked by unemployed youth, prompting an examination of long-festering social ills in Southern Africa's leading democracy.
