Abstract

A military alliance of sorts between Nigeria and neighbours Cameroon, Chad and Niger has limped gradually toward official activation. The envisioned Multinational Joint Task Force, which is also set to include Benin, is intended to combat the Islamist militant group Boko Haram on a regional scale. After some delays, a plan of operations has finally been drawn up and is ready to be presented to the UN for official support and potential funding.
