Abstract

One of Africa's most intractable nations in terms of peace and stability, the Central African Republic (CAR) has made progress against internal divisions that have destabilised the country for decades. New challenges to peace constantly appear, including an unseemly sex scandal involving UN peacekeeping troops, but international observers are giving the CAR a good score on nation rebuilding.
