Abstract

Conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) has become such a way of life since national independence that President Joseph Kabila thinks nothing of instigating unrest by manipulating an extended stay in power while militant groups plunder the nation's mineral wealth. Against this trend is an African and international community weary of perpetual conflict in the DRC, seeking stability in the country to shore-up development progress in the rest of Central Africa.
