Since the origin of the ideal of financial liberalisation in the 1970s, a number of developing countries have implemented far-reaching financial reforms. However, many countries have hurriedly implemented the policy of financial liberalisation without necessarily taking into consideration the conditions necessary for its success. In particular, the timing of the policy and the speed and sequencing of its implementation have not been closely observed in many developing countries.
