Volume 2007, Issue 3
  • ISSN : 1811-5187

Abstract

This article aims at identifying and examining pertinent policy issues in the development of sound legal and regulatory frameworks for financial and private sector development in Africa. An important caveat here is that the article does not profess to provide an exhaustive study of all the legal aspects of private and financial sector development. What the article does is to stand back from untested academic theory, focusing instead on pragmatic lessons of experience informed by the author's vast experience and expertise in the fields of international and comparative corporate law and financial services regulation. The article brings the reader to quick speed on salient features of the law for developing a sound financial sector as well as an attractive investment climate.
