Abstract

The flow of aid into Africa for the past fifty years has done very little to develop Africa. I will even go further to suggest that the continuous flow of aid into Africa is one of the main reasons why Africa remains at the bottom of every development league table. Aid into the continent has gone on to finance civil wars and prop up dictators and warlords. In some countries, aid for development from donor agencies ends up in the private bank accounts of government ministers and civil servants. Most bilateral aid into Africa is tied to the interest of the donor countries and offers little to promote sustainably development.
