Abstract

For centuries, Africa has been referred to as the Dark Continent which produces nothing of value to the rest of the world. The cinematic character of Tarzan, the jungle hero, helped strengthen that historical narrative. I remember one time being asked by an English guy in London whether Africans still live on trees. He was bemused when I jokingly replied that the tree-house which the Queen used to live in is still at the Kenyan Masai Mara next to Tarzan tree-house and that the tree-house is now on the market for ₤50Million!
