Abstract

Africans like everyone else around the world have no choice but to live with an unending regime of high oil prices that they can't just wish away. The problem of high oil prices is not unique to any country but is something the whole world is experiencing. No one, even the most powerful country like the US is immune from higher oil prices. Unfortunately, unlike past oil increases, this one is unlikely to subside, and may actually keep intensifying. While the consequences of high crude oil prices are universal and well documented, the causes are not so clear.
