The cosmopolitan ammonite genus de Grossouvre, 1894, is the commonest ammonite in the Lower and lower Middle Albian in northern KwaZulu-Natal. Two variable, dimorphic species, (Schlotheim, 1813) and (Quenstedt, 1849) are recognized, of which the majority of previously named taxa referred to the genus are regarded as synonyms.
