Abstract

Political independence in Africa gave birth to the direct participation of African states in the international system. The leaders of these states had looked forward with high hopes and great expectations to this participation. Among the reasons for this is the fact that the international system played some part in the African struggle for independence. Anti-imperialist and anticolonialist forces within the system had joined hands with the nationalist leaders to impress on the colonial powers the anachronism and inherent injustice of colonial rule.
