The children of Zulu-speaking people play an important part in the social life of the community. In the last few decades this role has become increasingly significant in view of the socio-economic changes which have come about and the pace at which these changes have occurred. As 1985 is the ""Year of the Youth"", it is apt that attention should be focussed on young ideas. How better can one try and understand the hopes, fears and anxieties of young people than by listening to their songs which are after all an expression of their thoughts and emotions?
