Abstract

While helping in the resolution of both the internal and external dimensions of the Congolese conflict, South Africa is also mediating to help the leaders of Burundi to bring peace in their country. Due to its close relationships with Rwanda, Uganda and now the DRC, its international stature as a regional powerhouse, and its military, economic and financial might, South Africa has the means to contribute decisively to bringing peace more widely to the African continent.
