To examine gender differences in attributions for success, analysis was conducted on a data set collected from 201 subjects who are university lecturers. The social psychological framework of attribution theory has been used to examine differences between males and females for causal explanations within an achievement (success/failure) domain. Data were analysed through factor analysis on attributional dimensions for success experiences.
