Abstract

This paper explores the expected economic and social impact of the 2010 FIFA World Cup on South Africa. It investigates the justification for spending of public funds towards the upgrading and building of sports stadia in South Africa as a developing country, and offers an empirical survey regarding probable match attendance and ticket prices.
