Abstract

There are many factors that control the development of nations. The quality and moral fibre of a people, world peace, political stability, and the availability of capital and skills are but a few of these. However, recent events have made it increasingly clear that a growing world population has an almost insatiable appetite for natural resources, that these are the vital raw materials for industrial and economic development and that agriculture and mining are still the basic sources of wealth.
