A study of the papers reveals a number of essentials touched on with a remarkable sameness of approach and consensus of conclusions. Immediate attention should be given to three of these. They include South Africa's position as primarily a regional, African state rather than a European power with an important and indispensable role to play in a bipolar world. Secondly South Africa's gold, her resources of raw materials, her foreign trade and her profitable investment opportunities offset a substantial part of the attempts to isolate her from the world community by economic, political and other kinds of embargo. Lastly, it was almost unanimously stated that South Africa's future as a major regional power with a stabilising effect, hinges on her success in developing her internal policies to the point of acceptance by the Blacks and through them by Africa and the world.
