Abstract

Colonel Caddafi's recent appeal to all so-called ""progressive"" countries calling on them to organize and align themselves against ""the birth of a new imperialism"" has once again revealed the firm affiliation between Libya's Head of State and the ""socialist"" world. Political events in Third World countries indicate to an ever-increasing extent that national leaders do not have to be convinced communists to promote the cause of the Soviet Union in her determined confrontation with the West. Libya's attitude towards conservative states like Morocco, Sudan and Egypt emphasizes a particular aspect of the increasingly coordinated anti-Western stance among the so-called ""non-aligned"" or ""socialist"" countries of the Third- World.
