Abstract

Eight species of the genera Hemitoma, Clypidina, Tugali, Scutus and Zeidora are discussed; Hemitoma and Clypidina represent new records for the area. Details of protoconch morphology, radula structure and external anatomy are given where possible. Two species of Emarginula are discussed in an appendix. New records: Hemitoma scutellata (Deshayes, 1863), H. panhi (Quoy & Gaimard, 1834), Clypidina brevirimata (Deshayes,.1863), Zeidora (Nesta) nesta (Pilsbry, 1890), Emarginula costulata Deshayes, 1863, and E. fenestrata Deshayes, 1863 [= E. fenestrella Deshayes, 1863 (non DuBois, 1831)]. Lectotypes deSignated and figured: Hemitoma scutellata (Deshayes, 1863), Emarginula costulata Deshayes, 1863, and Tugali carinata A. Adams, 1852. Holotypes figured: Hemitoma polygonalis (A. Adams, 1852) and Clypidina brevirimata (Deshayes, 1863). Incorrect record: specimens previously identified as Emarginula tenuicostata Adams & Sowerby, 1863, are here identified as E. costulata Deshayes, 1863.
