Abstract

A histological reconstruction of the main anatomical features of the male reproductive system in Penaeus indicus is presented. The passage of spermatozoa and associated secretions from the testis to the terminal ampoule is descriptionbed, as is the formation of the spermatophoric mass. The origins and possible functions of elements making up the spermatophoric mass are discussed with reference to their destination in the inseminated thelycum.
