is a monogenean parasite of anguillid eels that is thought to have Pacific origins. Recent identification of in Europe and America has been attributed to human-mediated introductions. Here we report the first confirmed incidence of in South Africa and discuss whether it is a natural parasite of South African eels or an introduced exotic.
