Abstract

The Western Cape government has found the province's natural capital costs society approximately R4.5 billion per annum, largely due to the cost of invasive alien species on the region's water resources (ABI, 2014). The province has unique biodiversity that remains under threat at the hand of invasive alien plants (IAPs) and their ability to dominate the landscape, modifying and impacting on ecosystems by displacing both flora and fauna species.
