The informed seafood consumer has heard of the many problems surrounding commercial fishing of the oceans: overexploitation of threatened fish populations, wasteful by-catch and deaths of dolphins and seabirds tangled in nets and lines. Takes from commercial fisheries have been unable to increase for the past two decades, with 60% of wild fish stocks fished to their limit of sustainability and 30% overexploited.
