Abstract

A study was conducted to determine the effect of various seed treatments on germination of one and eight year old seeds of and seven year old seeds of . Seeds were subjected to 10 different presowing treatments including the control. All the treatments had a significant effect on germination with the exception of eight year old seeds of after 18 days. A higher overall germination was obtained from one year old seeds of compared to either eight year old seeds of the same species or seven year old seeds of . In terms of germination rate, germination generally started after four days in most treatments.
