oa Agrochemophysica - On fitting fertilizer response surface functions with particular reference to inverse polynomials

Abstract

Six response surface functions were investigated with the object of descriptionbing the relationship between ? soil test results and maize yield. The functions were compared in a practical situation by means of the correlation coefficient between observed and fitted values and the residual sum of squares. Inverse polynomials were found to be useful for response urface data but choosing the correct method of fitting these functions was found to be important where they are to be compared with other functions. Various fitting techniques are briefly reviewed and compared.
