Abstract

The Cape Colony was again invaded by large swarms of Flying Brown Locusts in the early autumn of 1909. This is a report by the Chief Locust Officer, on work done in the Cape Colony. According to information collected by the Government Entomologist, Mr. C. P. Lounsbury, they originated principally in Gordonia and spread to the northern side across the Orange River, south to Calvinia and east towards East London.
