Abstract

Of the several breeds of Merino sheep which from time to time have been imported into South Africa, the one which can claim the oldest standing is undoubtedly the Rambouillet breed of Spanish origin, which under the care of ""Daubenton,"" the great French naturalist, was herded at Rambouillet, in the district of Seine and Oise.
