Abstract

Self-care practice is the most important aspect of preventative care among people of all age groups. It is more necessary in rural areas because the majority of people live in rural areas in Swaziland (70%). The rural clinics are small to offer all aspects of health care. Health professionals are fewer, and care is mainly out patient centred. In rural areas the health workers depend on large extent on promoting self-care to maintain health of individuals and groups.
