Abstract

Heavily impacted by HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria, hospitals in Swaziland have been taxed beyond capacity, resulting in increasing numbers of patients cared for at home. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the impact of the Swaziland Rural Health Initiative (a primary health care programme designed to training community health workers, called Rural Health Motivators) on family caregivers' experiences in the promotion of HIV/AIDS risk reduction and the provision of community home-based care. A qualitative, cross-sectional, exploratory design was used.
