Abstract

In sub-Saharan African countries such as Ghana, where the burden of the HIV epidemic is pressing, it is critical that nursing students are educated about HIV infection in order to assume their role as graduate professional nurses. Nurses, as front line health professionals, playa key role in the care of HIV sero-positive patients and in the delivery of prevention programmes. In this study, a pre and post-test quasi-experimental design was used to examine the knowledge and attitudes of Ghanaian nursing students in relation to HIV associated illness.
