Abstract

The health and fitness industry around the world is heavily commercialized. In the quest for good health and wellness, many people especially in cities and urban areas are prepared to pay for services provided by private health clubs and fitness centres at all cost. Unfortunately, this industry is not regulated in many developing countries, especially in Africa. Furthermore, this trend has led to a proliferation of health products, exercise equipment, training protocols, services and styles and indeed drugs, many of which do not have rigorously tested scientific basis.
